Food trucks, farmers market kick off Chautauqua Days weekend
Chautauqua Days gets off to a tasty start Friday, July 31, with food trucks and a farmers market at the Rome City Town Hall from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Pizza Diva of LaGrange, LouDogs of Auburn and Whip & Chill of Fort Wayne will be on hand to satisfy those appetites.
Saturday’s events at the Gene Stratton-Porter State Historic Site include the Rome City Marshall Biatholon, Soarin’ Hawk birds, the Liar’s bench with David McDaniel, Sower Land Restoration presentation by Dave Fox, and Noble Trail presentation with Scott Allen. Registration for the Run & Bike Biatholon is from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. with the race beginning at 9 a.m.
In-town events include Fun in the Park at Kelly Park from noon to 3 p.m., a chicken cook-off, cornhole tournament, ice cream eating contest at Sundaes on Sylvan at 3 p.m. and the parade at 4:30 p.m. A Lyrics at Lakeside concert featuring Hanah Crofton is at 7 p.m. sponsored by the Rome City Chamber of Commerce.
