Looking for something to do this weekend? Start your Saturday with a pancake and sausage breakfast with the Cromwell-Kimmell Lions Club in downtown Cromwell. It’s part of the Cromwell Days Festival schedule. Other events includes a 5K run, craft and food vendors, Lions Club Coed Softball Tournament, Hoop Shoot contests, corn hole tournament, the Lake City Roller Dolls demonstration, and the grand parade, “Christmas in July”, beginning at 2 p.m. Roger Schermerhorn is the parade announcer. Marshall Law provides the evening’s musical entertainment.
Or end the evening with a Star Gazing & Night Hike with Naturalist Tiffany Conrad at the Gene Stratton-Porter State Historic Site, Rome City. Meet at the Sower Farmhouse, 8983 County Road 350 E, at 9 p.m. for a walk through Sower Woods in search of bats, owls, moths and other night critters. If the skies are clear, the Fort Wayne Astronomical Society will be available to identify constellations, satellites and other celestial bodies by telescope. Tickets are $4 per person when you come to the event. Children younger than 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Bring your own binoculars for an up-close view of the stars!
